Climate Change Management

Planet Sustainable Lifestyle

THE CHALLENGE: Global Warming and the resulting Climate Change noticed globally has become the single largest, humanity caused environmental threat to the planet. 350 particles per million or PPM is the allowable level of carbon in the atmosphere whereas we have gone past 400 PPM! The culture of waste, conspicuous consumerists and materialism have cumulatively pushed the planet into an unsustainable trajectory; with regard to energy consumption, which is predominantly fossil fuel based. Governments have become growth obsessed and have become more corporate with quarterly forecasts! The welfare of the people, peace and justice issues are not critical criteria of governments, growth is! There is nothing wrong with growth, but at what expense is the question! Countries like India try and get away saying that on a per capita basis, the carbon footprint of the average India is far smaller than that of the Americans! Does that mean that India and China have the right to dump more carbon into the atmosphere? The developed industrialized countries are the one who have caused the overloading of carbon in the atmosphere in the first place! Automobiles, jet travel and war machinery production and operational preparedness, contribute considerably to the carbon being dumped into the atmosphere, slowly killing of the planet.

Scientists state that by the turn of the century, if we do not take corrective steps and restrain the headlong pursuit of individual creature comforts by all possible means; many countries are vulnerable to their coastal cities being flooded. Melting of the icecaps also causes reduction in the salinity and consequently weakens the powerful ocean currents that sustains the whole spectrum of aquatic life.

THE INTERVENTION:
What would Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest social reformers of the 20th century, have done for the 21st century climate change crises? This throws up a number of possibilities and opportunities to set the course for global awareness for a cap on dirty (fossil fuel) energy, while enhancing the ‘gross national happiness’ through the practice of Simple-living and High-thinking. People should be made aware to appreciate the awesome creation around us with its huge diversity and interconnectedness. ‘Climate Change Management Accredited Practitioner Certification Program’ from People Planet Institute does all this and more! It opens the eyes of their heart and makes them see and connect with the ‘emerging green market’ that is founded on sustainability and innovation. Therefore a planet sustainable life style is key to success on this planet for one and all.

The green economy that looks at reducing carbon foot print is pegged at trillions of dollars and is the career of the future; Climate Change Management Program opens the doors to this sector.

Simple-living High-thinking…
Is the way to fullness in life
Serving not the senses
With eyes set on things above
On the age to come

Simple thinking and High living
Carbon loaded footprints
Consumerism adoring
Self centred creatures
Devour more and more

High thinking and simple living is the way of the future
To be set free…from climate change misery

Low on consumption…low on energy
Low on carbon foot print for posterity prosperity
High on selfless love…high on empathy
High on clean energy for posterity prosperity

QUOTES
The most important thing about global warming is this. Whether humans are responsible for the bulk of climate change is going to be left to the scientists, but it's all of our responsibility to leave this planet in better shape for the future generations than we found it.
-Mike Huckabee

Global warming is not a conqueror to kneel before - but a challenge to rise to. A challenge we must rise to.
-Joe Lieberman

Climate change is happening, humans are causing it, and I think this is perhaps the most serious environmental issue facing us.
-Bill Nye

If we take all this actions and if it turns out not be true, we have reduced pollution and have better ways to live, the downside is very small. The other way around, and we don’t act, and it turns out to be true, then we have betrayed future generations and we don’t have the right to do that.”
- Tony Blair

“My generation were diners stuffing ourselves senseless at the Restaurant of the Earth’s Riches knowing—while denying—that we’d be doing a runner and leaving our grandchildren a tab that can never be paid.”
- David Mitchell

The warnings about global warming have been extremely clear for a long time. We are facing a global climate crisis. It is deepening. We are entering a period of consequences.

AL GORE, speech at National Sierra Club Convention, Sept. 9, 2005

The good news is we know what to do. The good news is, we have everything we need now to respond to the challenge of global warming. We have all the technologies we need, more are being developed, and as they become available and become more affordable when produced in scale, they will make it easier to respond. But we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait.

AL GORE, speech at National Sierra Club Convention, Sept. 9, 2005

There are very few objections to the theory as a whole; everyone in the scientific community agrees that the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide is on the rise, and almost everyone believes that it cannot help having some effect. To declare, as some editorialists have done, that the warming has not yet appeared and therefore the theory is wrong is like arguing that a woman hasn't yet given birth and therefore isn't pregnant.
- BILL MCKIBBEN, The End of Nature
